The Elemental Forms, Landscape series speaks to my response to what I see and feel about the landscape. In Elemental Forms, Landscape Rearticulated, I deconstruct the landscape and reimagine it into something new. The undulating, wave-like form from earlier work emerges as the dominant pattern that unifies the Immanent Forms, Waves series. This series investigates the relationship between matter and sound.
Cymatics is resonance made visible in the form of universal and archetypal patterns found in nature. Hans Jenny, Swiss physician who coined the term cymatics, after carefully conducting numerous Chladni experiments, concluded: “This is not an unregulated chaos; it is a dynamic but ordered pattern.”
The work speaks to waves observed in water and atomic and subatomic levels. Waves as vibration, as resonance, as amplitude, as octaves, as sound, as music that brings the manifest world into being.
